Description:

Here is nicely preserved Cogswell-Harrison of London double hammer 16 ga. shotgun produced around the turn of the last century. It has 30 inch Damascus barrels with extractors. It has a bead front sight. The roll mark on the rib between the barrels is almost completely worn away. The bores are still clean and bright. The barrels and action finishes have aged to a deep gray patina. There is no rust or serious pitting but there are some small dings that are superficial and only in the finish. It has a lever operated splinter forend with checkering all around and still good sharpness. The stock is a straight English style with hand engraving in the grip area. It also still retains good texture. The stock is finely grained and finished in a semi-gloss indicating that it has been refinished in the past. It has dual triggers and wears a black hard rubber butt plate. The action appears to function correctly and the hammer strike is strong. It comes with tools and a yellow canvas fitted case. LOP is 12.5 inches to the rear trigger and 13.5 inches to the front trigger. The barrels are choked IC and modified. This is an exceptionally nice old shotgun considering it's age. It's light in weight and nicely balanced. Cogswell-Harrison is London's oldest Gunmaker, founded in 1770. Damascus barrels though, no high powered shells!
