Description:
A Real Piece of Shooting History -

This rifle was the personal project of Ned Roberts,
as outlined in an article from the June, 1937 The American Rifleman magazine - a copy of which is included with the rifle. In the butt of the rifle, a piece of onion skin with information on subsequent owners.

The rifle appears to be original to Mr. Roberts build except for the scope. He used a Unertl - the rifle currently sports a Lyman Super Targetspot.

From The American Rifleman

"A Super-accurate .257 Roberts Rifle"

"During the winter, year before last . . . I spent much time planning a new .257 Roberts rifle that I hoped would prove superior to any other arm of this caliber that I had had."
“I selected the Mauser action with double set trigger”
“I had fitted a special Winchester Proof Steel barrel . . . designed especially to keep the 117-grain bullet from tipping . . .”
“…it was sent, with the action and a fine French walnut stock blank, to Griffin & Howe, where the barrel was fitted to the action . . .”
