*** SALE PENDING *** (Layaway?)....MINTY, with case color!...serial #24164, .50 cal, 20'' round barrel with octagonal breech and a bright very good plus bore showing some very fine oxidation and strong rifling throughout. The barrel of this carbine retains about 70% original blue strongest around the breech and underside with the balance toned to a plum-brown patina showing scattered light pitting. The frame retains bold case-hardened colors scattered throughout and particularly strong on the left side with overall toning to smooth gray patina, a few spots of oxidation on the right side and scattered freckling. The Maynard patent markings on the left side and Massachusetts Arms Co. maker markings on the right are very clear, there is a crisp ''1865'' stamp on the lower tang along with the serial number. The trigger and hammer show strong original blue in the more protected areas with some oxidation staining along the top of the hammer and a number of screw heads likewise retain strong blue. The straight grip walnut buttstock remains in near excellent condition retaining almost all of its original finish and showing just the usual scattered dings and handling marks. The dual ''JM'' cartouches on the left side remain quite crisp and clear. Excellent bore...The saddle ring and original sights are intact, barrel lockup is tight and the hammer functions crisply.
