This is the venerable Browning Superposed Grade 1 with hard to find field chokes. Most of these guns are found with skeet chokes and are less desirable. As you compare this gun to others, keep in mind that the most desirable Superposed guns are the long tang, round knob guns built before 1967. This Superposed, sn51546 s6 was built in 1966 before the “salt-wood debacle” that started in 1967. This fine Browning weighs in at 7 1/2lbs., making it a superb upland bird gun for carrying long distance and long hours. With the most desirable 28" barrels choked factory IC/M, this gun is all factory original and is in 99% factory original condition, with the original length stock with factory butt plate. Guns built after 1966 were prone to salt contamination and rust because of the manner in which Browning cured their wood. Not all guns were affected, but the marketplace still has an aversion to the later guns with short tangs, and some even with square knob pistol grips. This is a great upland gun that is balanced to perfection and light enough to carry all day afield. We have a factory correct Browning hard case available for an additional $250. Ask for photos if you want a proper Browning Airways hard case The value of these earlier Superposed guns continues to climb, so you can invest in this gun and enjoy its use as it gains value.
