Description:
This is a very nice all-orignal .38 Special Colt Diamondback in Colt's glossy "Royal Blue" factory finish with a 4" inch barrel.  This little beauty was made in 1976 and has obviously spent the vast majority of it's life in storage.  The Colt Diamondback was introduced in 1966 in both .22 LR and .38 Special, and was offered with a 2.5", 4", or 6" inch barrel with either a Royal Blue or Nickel factory finish.  It was a successful design and commercial success for the Colt firm, remaining in production until 1991.  During that long production run the Diamondback earned a reputation for being a very well-made revolver with excellent fit and finish, much nicer than most of the double-action revolvers being produced at that time.  Today all of the Colt "Snake Guns" are sought-after by collectors and shooters alike, with clean all-original guns like this one proving to be superb long-term investments.  This particular example has a beautiful original blue finish, rating 98% with the only deductions coming from a few tiny handling/storage marks.  As you can see from the pictures, they are all very minor with the worst of the marks located on the bottom of the triggerguard.  The factory polished sides of the hammer are also beautiful, bright and clean with no staining visible.  The bore in this Colt is mirror-bright and clean, with sharp rifling throughout the barrel and no visible imperfections.  The six cylinder bores are equally as bright and clean.  The original factory checkered Walnut grips rate 98% plus as well, showing only a couple of tiny marks and no cracks, chips, or visible wear.  The checkering is still crisp and clean, and both grip panels match each other and are perfectly fit to gun.  The action on this Diamondback is smooth, slick, and precise.  It is perfectly "in time" whether you work the action fast or slow, or in single or double-action.  All of the controls on this Colt work 100% like the day it left the factory.  If you have been looking for an investment-worthy Diamondback for your collection this 1976-production example would be an excellent choice.
