Civil War 1860 Army Inspector Marked field used Percussion .44 cal Revolver in original holster - Original Civil War Era .44 cal Percussion Revolver with matching serial numbers 81697 on Barrel, Frame, Trigger Guard, Shoe or Heel, & Wedge. One line worn Colt address on top side of barrel as depicted in photo array. A clear "R" inspector mark is located on the trigger guard. Appears to be another mark, possibly a "J" on the cylinder, with a Sept 10, 1851 patent date. 8 inch rounded barrel. Circa 1862 manufactured Colt revolver in original period leather holster. The holster shows wear & use, as the revolver does as well, with aging consistent with original period Civil War field used revolver. A good example and great Civil War Collectible. The revolver still holds at half cock & full cock, and appears to index correctly after so many years. This revolver without any doubt had seen much field use in its day, as eveidenced by the nicks, scratches, and wear on theinal walnut grips, and as depicted in the photo array attached. Rare find with matching numbers & original holster.
