Description:
On Hold.  This is a nice all original example of the rather scarce Colt New House Revolver in .38 Colt.  Colt made only 4,000 units of this model from 1880 to 1886.  Serial number is in the 14,000 range and was built in 1882.  This little Colt has been in a friend's collection for many years who is beginning to down-size his collection.  He liked originality and had a good eye for untouched guns.  The New House is essentially the middle brother to the Colt New Police and the Colt New Like Revolvers.  In size, it is the little brother of the Colt New Police aka "Cop and Thug" Revolver with same frame, same handle, but with a short barrel and no ejector....kind of like a Colt Lightning Sheriff's Model 2 1/2" or Storekeeper 3 1/2".  In turn, it is the big brother to the Colt New Line Pocket Revolver with the larger saw-handled grip but shares the same frame and shorter barrel length.  Condition-Wise, it is in NRA Antique Fine Plus Condition with 85% of its original nickel plating with quite a bit of original fire blue on the screws, hammer, and even the spur trigger.  The checkered hard rubber grips are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.  Left side of the barrel has a great acid etched pattern that reads "COLT HOUSE 38". Nice Colt address on top of the barrel and the patent dates underneath.  The action is tight with both half, full cock, proper indexing, and lockup.  The bore is very good plus which is well above average for a revolver made for black powder.  It clearly wasn't fired much given the amount of fire blue on the spur trigger and rear hammer profile.  Antique, Pre-1898.
