It is hard enough to find antique Pre-1899 Marlins much less an antique takedown! This rifle has seen normal hunting and handling wear, but no abuse. The receiver is a cloudy gray. The barrel is mostly gray/brown with some aged blue in the more protected areas- along the forend and along the mag tube on both octagon flats. The magazine is mostly gray/brown. Fine butt stock and forearm show only light handling marks and tight wood to metal fit. It is fitted with the original long buckhorn rear sight (needs the elevator bar only) and a half-moon blade front sight. Bore is a little dark, but has good rifling all the way through and only some minor roughness toward the middle of the bore- in all a better bore than one might expect of such an early black powder era 1894. Tight takedown, no extra holes, good action. SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: MARLIN Model: 1894 OCTAGON RIFLE TAKEDOWN Serial Number: 115XXX Caliber Info: .38-40 Condition: VG+ Barrels: 24" OCT. |
