Description:
Original Powell Knife Pistol (PKP) Model MR-38, .38 special, single shot, break-open pistol, with a 5-inch (blade tip to end of barrel), stainless-steel knife, incorporating a 1¾-inch barrel, serrated hammer, side-lever for opening, and two-piece walnut grips. The overall length of the knife-pistol is 11 inches. The length of the blade from the tip to the back of the blade, along the sharpened edge is 6 inches (see photo). The weight is 17 ounces. Other accessories include the original leather holster/scabbard and the original tri-fold brochure that came with the gun. There is NO box or other papers. These guns were manufactured from 1981 to 1993.
The overall condition of this knife-gun itself is 99 percent. I hesitate to call anything 100 percent or perfect if it is not new in the box. The metal is near perfect, as are the wood grip panels. Neither shows any signs wear. The holster/scabbard has a ¾-inch cut at the front tip where the knife blade has cut through, along with some other marks (see photos). Aside from these issues, the leather is supple and has no cracks from dryness. The stitching is strong and complete, with no broken threads. Unfortunately, as mentioned above, there are no box, owner’s manual, or other accessories, other than the original holster/scabbard and tri-fold brochure.

The buyer pays USPS Priority mail ($25) and insurance, if desired. Insurance for the full value of the gun would be $19 ($4.60 for the first $300 of insurance, plus $14.40 ($1.20 for each additional $100 of insurance above the first $300 dollars)). I will accept a personal check, but will hold the gun until it clears. I will also accept USPS money orders which I do not have to hold, as they clear immediately. I will accept other type money orders, but will hold gun until they clear. Note that USPS money orders are limited to $1,000, so two USPS money orders will be required for this purchase. Check or money orders must be made out to Jerry Pownall.
