Description:
This is a very clean, original muskat dated 1835, that still shows a good inspectors cartoucheon the stock and a crisp "US, NWP, P" on the barrel. This is one of the last flintlock USmuskats manufactured, before the percussion Model 1842 became the standard. Thousands were converted to percussion during the late 1850's and early 1860's and were the primary shoulder arm in the first two years of the Civil War. This was definitely not one of those, since it remains in pristine, almost unused condition. It is smooth bore and .69 caliber. While the lock shows some minor pitting, the barrel, bands, trigger guard, and buttplate are smooth, bright and sharp. It is a far above average example of its type.
