Description:
This is a powder flask made for the later Walkers, Whitneyville Dragoons or 1st Model Dragoon Colt revolvers. It was issued to the US Military and has the Chief Inspector's mark, WAT, for William A. Thornton stamped on the top. It is also marked Colts Patent on the banners on both sides as well as the gate on the top. For it's age it is in absolutely tremendous condition for a military flask. It was issued during the 1847 War with Mexico. All markings and stampings are very, very clear. It has a number of very small dings overall as one would expect, but no unsightly major dents. This flask has the most beautiful patina that I have ever seen on an early Colt flask. It would be extremely hard to improve on this flask. This flask would go nicely with an early cased Colt or it would display very well by itself.
