Mauser 1896 Red Nine 9mm caliber pistol. Popular collection piece! Bore is excellent. Action works perfectly. Correct Red Nine grips with original red paint not repainted like some that are replaced and refinished. Gun has approximately 95% blue. Gun has the Imperial German Army acceptance mark. All numbers match including the grips. This pistol was sold in England at some time in the past and has a tiny “BNP” (British Nitro Proof) and has the Birmingham proof house marks very lightly applied on the underside of the barrel. Many WWI and WWII guns were sold by post war arms dealers in England and the British required gun sold in England to be tested at the Government Proof House. This is a very fine example of the iconic “Red Nine Broom Handle Mauser”.
