Description:
This 12 gauge shotgun was produced in 1942. The serial number is 883971 for this Winchester. The Tournament grade is a lower grade than the Trap grade. Most buyers opted to pat a few dollars more and buy the Trap grade. As a result very few of these Tournament grades were produced. At the time this gun was produced the Tournament grade was pretty much phased out. This grade in latter production listings was also called the Standard Trap gun. This shotgun has the 28 inch full choke barrel, checkered forend, checkered pistol grip without cap. The original buttplate is intact. There are no alterations done to this shotgun. This gun is all original as produced condition. The take down feature locks up tight with no play. The top of the reciever has the matted sight plane as found on the higher grade guns. The bore is bright and free of damage. The action locks up tight and works smoothly. The original barrel blue would rate a 97+% condition. The reciever would rate a 96% condition. There is some light freckling in spots on the reciever. The bolt and carrier retain most of the original bluing. This is a well cared for shotgun in a very rare grade to find in the 1897 model shotguns. This Tournament gun would certainly appeal to the 1897 Winchester collector as well as the Winchester and shotgun collector in general! Search for hlvfineguns on google for more information.
