BRITISH DRAGOON Antique Flintlock MILITARY Pistol
Cavalry Pistol Made in The Late 1700s!
Here we present an antique British Light Dragoon Flintlock Pistol, made circa the late-18th Century. This pistol would have been carried by a member of the British Light Dragoons. These cavalry troops were differentiated from the Heavy Dragoons in that they were more lightly armed and armored, enabling them to move nimbly for scouting, raiding and communications purposes. Light Cavalry in the British Army began to be more highly developed andanized during this very period of the middle 1700s. Two Regiments, the 16th & 17th, participated in the attempt to put down the American Revolution against British rule from 1775-1783.
This one’s lock has faint markings on the lock and visible proof marks on the barrel.
The overall condition is good. The stock shows much use and very old chips around the pommel and a stable crack under the lock. The bore is smooth and dark. The action remains strong. This one has clearly survived many battle and about 200 years!
