This Natinal Postal Meter M1 Carbine is the 1706th carbine produced. It was issued in the first run, second month of 1943 when they were first issued to the Government. The Serial number started for National Postal Meter with 1,450,000. This carbine's serial number is 1451706. This carbine is in new condition and shows no sign of ever being fired! It has all of the correct very early parts. The parts are also in new condition. The original finish is fully intact on all of the parts. The "I" stock has the correct early Trimble - TN stamp in the sling well. The handguard also has the correct markings. The stock and handguard have no powder burns or residude in the inside from the gun being fired. It also has the correct early minty sling and oiler. The magazine is the correct early magazine for National Postal Meter. The barrel is the correct barrel for this gun as National Postal Meter did not make their barrels. The barrel is by Underwood and dated 1-43. This stunning early carbine has survived in new condition all these years is an amazing feat! I do not see how anybody could "Top" this National Postal Meter Carbine with a better one! To find a early complete carbine that has not been restored is a feat in itself! Let alone finding one like this carbine. The National Postal Meter Co. produced around 6.8% of the carbine production during the War. This makes this gun a fairly rare carbine to find for the collector in itself. Here is one of the very early one's for the collector to have in their collection.
