Description: Drillings, Double Rifles, and Rifles - The best thing about this rifle is its original quality, its features, and its bores. The rifling is very sharp and bright with only the slightest haze between the lands. The gun appears to be ready for the dangerous game it was built for. Features include a folding back hooded sight and folding night site, bushed firing pins, and a square cross bolt (third bite), trap in the pistol grip, extended top tang, just to name a few. The trigger pulls are very crisp. As you can see in the photo\'s the barrel on the outside has some fairly deep pitting in places. This could easily be restored via Laser welding and a new blacking but if one wanted to have a rifle that one would not have to worry over in rough hunting conditions I would just leave it as is as it does not affect its lethalness in any way. The other positive side of this external pitting on the barrels is we are able offer this gun at a terrific price! Mahillon always had high quality guns. Abercrombie & Fitch imported them. This gun was built in Belgium in approximately 1928. The .475 #2 is a very impressive cartridge being one of the longest cartridges in its class at near 4.5" long. *** Note: To see this gun with high resolution photos and a zoom-in feature, go to the vintagedoubles main site and search for the gun ID: 3996 or browse the main site to see our full gun collection. |
