Description:
This is a Holland and Holland Royal Elector 12 gauge shotgun is fine condition with 26 inch barrels. This is a hammerless, single trigger ejector gun choked improved cylinder and modified. It has an "Anson" snap forend and a straight European stock. The gun was rechambered for 2-3/4 shells and the barrels barrels replaced prior to July 1948 when under the ownership of by A.C. Berol, a pencil magnate from New York City. This work was said to have been performed at Holland and Holland, London. The barrels show a later proof mark. There is no documentation to confirm this work.The gun is hand checkered on the forend and the grip area. It has fine hand engraving on the sides of the sidelock action. The gun has a 14-3/4 in LOP. It weighs 6 pounds 9 ounces, has a 2-1/4 drop at the heel x 1-3/8 at the comb. The finish on the gun is a semi-gloss and there are few handling marks, none that affect the finish. It has checkered wood on the butt. The gun was originally finished at the factory on August 16,1898. The gun has a factory letter, letters showing consignments from Abercrombie and Fitch and Griffin and Howe, and an extensive history of the prior owners. Samples of the original Weapon history are shown with this listing. This is one of the nicer Holland and Holland shotguns we've offered. This gun comes with it's original fitted case,cleaning tools, snap caps and an oil vessel, as well as the extensive paperwork.
