General Specs: Cogswell & Harrison, Year 1955, 20 Gauge, 5lbs 10oz, Chokes IC/F, LOP 14 1/8", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 5/8"
Serial Number: 68543

What a great little London-made sidelock 20 bore we have here.  Cogswell & Harrison has long been one of London’s premier gunmakers and produced this gun in 1955 with BEST GUN FEATURES minus the self-opening option.  This delightful gun is stocked to the fences with nicely figured wood, including drop points, a mullered border on perfect checkering, a silver stock shield (blank), and perfect wood-to-metal fit.  The 7-pin sidelock action is adorned with beautiful English scroll with a full 80% coverage, has a sculpted frame, beaded fences, excellent screws, cocking indicators, 98% vivid case color, and perfect mechanics including crisp triggers and well-timed ejectors.  The finely struck barrels have mirror bores, smooth game rib, clear and sharp maker’s name and address, no dents or dings, and 99% of an English re-black remaining.  The barrels are tight on the breech face and hinge pin like a new gun.  THIS IS A VERY SOLID LONDON SMALL BORE!  Best of all, the barrels are proofed for heavy 2 ¾” 20ga. 1oz. payloads with the 3 ¼ ton per square inch proof marks.  At 5lbs. 10oz. and balanced dead on the hinge pin, this gun is what defines “BRITISH BEST” handling characteristics.  Other countries, including the U.S.A., rarely achieve the dynamic handling characteristics common in London guns.  All others are measured by the standard this gun represents. The IC/F chokes are the perfect upland chokes for all manner of American hunting, from pheasants to woodcock.  Just use an RST Spreader load in the left barrel in the thick stuff.  This gun is housed in a British made Brady case with accessories and is without flaw other than normal and loving care she has received in the 64 years of existence.  British sidelock small bores are now trading at affordable prices as you will note with this gun.  There are lots of 12 bore guns for sale, but very few full sidelock small bore guns with this kind of condition.  Don’t hesitate or she will be gone!  Thanks for looking.
