Description:
Serial #89528, .38 Long Colt, 7 1/2" octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some very mild freckling with the grooves. This is a handsome Richards-Mason revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, barrel, loading gate, trigger guard, and backstrap. The metal has a smooth, mottled brown patina with some bright original blue still visible on a few of the protected areas, particularly at the barrel breech. Likewise, a few spots of bright original color case-hardening are still present on the sides of the frame below the conversion ring and recoil shield. The barrel has the one-line Hartford address, and there are peen marks on the right side at the wedge. The walnut grip has an added oil finish over minor handling marks and surface blemishes on both sides, and also exhibits some light wear around the butt. The butt is stamped “U.S.N.", but no inspector initials are visible. The lock-up is tight as a drum and the action functions flawlessly. This is a great looking Richards-Mason Navy in fine overall condition, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. Antique
