This is a handsome revolver that has retained 85-90% of the original nickel finish with mottled plum-brown on the screws, hammer, and latch (although muted color case-hardening can still be seen). The barrel rib and topstrap are engraved in block letters: “THOS. TRANTER 16 WEAMAN ST. / BIRMINGHAM"; and the remainder of the revolver has delicate scrollwork filigree. The one-piece walnut grip is in fine condition with only minor handling marks and blemishes, and some mild flattening of the points. The barrel lock-up is tight, and the action functions flawlessly. This revolver is described and illustrated on pgs. 226 and 227 of “Tranter Cartridge Firearms" by Black, Guerin & Michaud; 2007, and would make a splendid addition to any collection of Tranter handguns.
