I believe it was made on the Ladies Model action, but since it was near the end of the tip-up Model;the factory made as a normal model. It has a very high serial number, 26 inch barrel, and right calibers. It started out in .22 short or long rifle, and rebore by Stevens in 17 rifling twist to .25 rimfire. No tang sight remains, simple rear sight ,and becon front fixed permanently. The action works fine, though barrel is a bit loose on action,as is found on many of these. Bore is rough and a reline is in order, as it originally was a .22 rimfire.Wood is not bad for age,and photos should show metal finish.I sell this antique rifle for display ,or,collecting purposes. If intending to shoot, one must have a gunsmith check for safety to use. UPDATE After comparing this rifle with other Stevens tip ups,I am not sure this rifle,s frame is considered a Ladies Model frame. It is just its appearence and barrel alongside heavy barreled Stevens makes it seem smaller ! SOLD Antique: Yes |
