Nice Example of a Mid-19th Century Conceal & Carry Revolver
Here we present a Remington New Model Percussion Pocket Revolver, made circa 1865-73 in Ilion, New York. This revolver was designed for defensive carry and would have been equally at home in a holster, pocket or purse. With 5 rounds of .31 one could get themselves out of most scrapes. This revolver could have been modified to accept metallic cartridges near the expiration of the Smith & Wesson owned Rollin White Patent, which prevented other companies from using the bored through cylinder until 1869. But it has remained a survivor in its original percussion state, which is a very neat feature.
The overall condition is Very Good. The action is strong. The bore is in good shape with sharp lands and grooves. Although small, this would have gotten the job done. The finish has turn to a gray patina over the years. A nice little compact percussion revolver with many stories to tell.
