Description:
This is a well known pair of guns out of the George Hodges Collection. He had several pairs of guns from the 20’s and 30’s that were sent in for engraving in his Collection. This is one of those pairs. Both guns have the date code 1916 on the inside of the gun as well as the star that indicates factory rework. Both engraved by Helfricht in typical class B with his style scroll work. At that time they were also silver plated and retain most of that finish. They complement each other very well and should remain together since they have been together for more than 100 years but I will separate them.
The Colt Bisley is in the 241k serial range. It features a 7-1/2 inch barrel in caliber 38-40. It has well fitting Ivory grips that show some age but no chips or cracks. Mechanical condition is as new. I don’t believe it has been shot since the re-finish. The Colt Single Action has similar Class B engraving to the Bisley. The 7-1/2 inch barrel has the Colt Frontier Six Shooter markings. It is in the 304k serial range and features Ivory grips with the raised Eagle on the right side as well as the Colt medallion inlaid. This also is as new. Both have turned a nice deep silver color. Engraving is crisp on this beautiful pair. Both guns have star on the trigger guard indicating the Factory re- finish. Both are done in silver plate. The inside has all the correct rework number.
