Description:
This is a very interesting and all-original Husqvarna M40 Lahti pistol complete with an original holster, 3 total magazines, cleaning rod, and take-down tool.  The M40 Lahti was a superb combat pistol.  It was designed to be tough, accurate, and supremely reliable.  Unlike any of the other combat pistols manufactured during that time, the action of the 9mm Lahti incorporated an "accelerator" to ensure that the M40's slide would close into battery and function flawlessly in sub-zero Artic conditions.  The Finnish, Russian, and German troops learned this the hard way when their sidearms locked up/malfunctioned in extreme cold, a common battlefield condition of many WW2 theaters. This particular Lahti was one of the "Danish Exile" guns ordered for the Danish Brigade that was secretly training in Sweden during WW2.  These guns were ordered in 1944 and were inspected by Capt. Sten Stenmo, falling in the 67,000 to 69,202 serial range.  The Danish Brigade took these guns with them when they were inserted back into Denmark in May of 1945.  With World War 2 ending shortly afterwards, most of these guns like this example went into service with the Danish Police.  It was at that point that they were stamped with the Danish Police markings on the right side of the frame.  This particular gun is stamped "Rplt. S 5621".  This Husqvarna M40 Lahti has had a very interesting history indeed.  It remains in excellent overall condition, showing only some very minor handling marks and only some very minor finish wear, mainly on the high edges from holster carry.  All of the factory stampings and police markings are crisp and clear, including the "SS" inspection stamp of Sten Stenmo located just above the lanyard loop at the rear of the frame.  The import stamp on this pistol is very faint and small on this Lahti, located on the left side of the frame in-between the serial number and left grip panel.  As you can see from the close-up photo of this area, it detracts very little from the clean look of this beautiful pistol.  The bore in this Lahti is beautiful and mirror bright with perfect sharp rifling.  There is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible whatsoever.  The original dark red/brown checkered plastic grips are in excellent condition and free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or visible wear.  This pistol has certainly been well cared-for over the last 76 years.  All of the controls on this Lahti are in perfect working order and the action is slick and precise.  The bolt locks into battery perfectly and the slide to frame fit is excellent.  There is no doubt that this M40 Lahti will function just as well today as the day it left Sweden.  As mentioned before, it comes complete with the whole rig.  The holster is in very good condition with soft and flexible leather with all of the original stitching and hardware intact.  All three of the magazines are in great shape and are 100% functional, and the original cleaning rod and take-down tool are in great shape as well.  If you have been looking for a new addition to your WW2 or military weapons collection this history-rich Husqvarna M40 Lahti rig would be a superb choice.
