Description:
Here is an all original configured Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 in the highly sought after and rare .358 Fwt.! Correct low comb stock and 22K rear sight. S/N 334*** with matching scribed bolt made in 1955. 22" slim profile barrel. Aluminum butt plate and bottom metal. Condition is conservatively rated between 90-95% due to some scattered marks and light flaking of finish near butt plate union. There is also slight evidence of a repaired nonstructural age type crack which is difficult to see, near end grain of fore end tip. Don't beat me up too much on that since most sellers would conveniently forget to mention. There were only 2000 of this caliber ever made representing less than 1/2 of 1% total production, and many of those were recalled, resulting in even fewer left in circulation! While not pristine, this rifle is unmolested and a very respectable example with good eye appeal. Certainly suitable to fill that void in most collections, and at a very fair price you are not liable to see again anytime soon.
