Description: Boxlocks - This light and superbly made double is in wonderful condition. We have checked with our friend Bob Beach of Griffen & Howe on the history of this gun. He graciously told us it was received by them September 16 1936 and was sold to a Mr. Barcroft. Mr. Barcroft returned the gun in October 1936 and it was then sold to a Richard W.P. Barnes who was an investment banker in New York city in the teens and twenties of the last century. It is a grade XIV ( 14 ) . Our shotgun (soon to be yours!) is in very nice condition retaining at least 50% original case hardening. The bores are bright and clean and they lock up tight on the action. I am a big fan of the semi-round knob stock that the Belgian gun makers are so well known for. I find these pre-WWII Francotte guns to be a real value as the craftsmanship is outstanding. *Note the great stock dimensions and chokes for serious bird hunting *** Note: To see this gun with high resolution photos and a zoom-in feature, go to the vintagedoubles main site and search for the gun ID: 3913 or browse the main site to see our full gun collection. |
