Description:
VERY EARLY ANTIQUE SERIAL NUMBER 1892 SADDLE RING CARBINE IN .38-40 CALIBER, #38XXX, MADE 1894. This is a fine early carbine that shows nice aged blue on the barrel with some thinning/mixing brown. The mag tube is similar but with more brown. Fine aged receiver blue that is mixing plum and some brown with excellent screws and nice blue on the loading gate. Fine deep blue on the bolt.  Butt stock and forend are walnut and show tight wood to metal fit and only the most minor of handling marks. There is some honest saddle wear to the forend just ahead of the receiver. Original carbine ladder sight with slide intact. Tight action. Bore is fairly bright with good rifling all the way through and only some scattered surface roughness that is light and positioned toward the middle of the bore. Exc. Attractive appearance overall. A Cody museum call in sheet is included with verifies that this .38 WCF carbine had its serial number applied on 12/28/94 and that the gun was shipped in early 1895. Hard to find early, antique carbines in any condition.
