W&C. Scott Revolver in 25 caliber Rimfire.
This dimunitive gun should NOT be confused with the more common Webley handguns.
This extremely rare gun was made at the Long Gun factory, and Has a London Address.
I have never seen anything like it in 40 years of collecting W&C. Scott guns!
It is most likely an experimental gun,, or a "one-off" presentation piece.
It is housed in it's original Burlwood case, with its original accessories.
Accessories include: oil bottle, turn screw, cleaning rod, and key.
The gun has a one piece brass frame.
Engraving is deeply rendered and is a beautiful scroll.( This was obviously a "special-order" gun.
The checkering on the grips is exceptionally fine and sharp. (I am guessing about 32 lines per inch.
The gun retains 90% or more of its original finishes. Some flaking of the blue, mostly on the cylinder.
Brass has all the original "patina" and has never been polished.
Rifling is strong (somewhat unusual)
Weight is only 12.1 ounces!
Barrel length is 2& 3/4 inches.
Overall length is 6.5 inches.
This gun was made after 1862. Scott did not use the name W&C. Scott & Sons until 1862.
The Gun has no visible serial number. I have no knowledge of "antique" handguns the, but I am guessing this gun was made in
the 1870's or 1880's.
This gun has seen very little use and most likely just sat in its little case for over 130 years!
This would be a great "find" for the collector of rare antique revolvers, or the "serious" collector of Scott guns.
