Description:
Christman, David: Delhi, Louisiana: A 7x57 Mauser on a Small Ring Mexican Mauser Action with Superbly Done Double Square Bridge work to accommodate Talley lever quick detachable 1" rings, 23" Lilja barrel, Matted 1/4 rib with 1 standing rear sight, Band front ramp with a spring actuated lock-on sight protector, In the Talley 1" rings is a Zeiss Conquest 2.5-8 x 32 MC scope, Blackburn true style straddle hinged floorplate and trigger guard with a center bow release, A 3-position Model 70 style wing safety on the bolt sleeve, 5 panel teardrop bolt knob checkering, Timney adjustable trigger, Jeweled bolt body, Action rails inside and out are polished, Checkered bolt stop release, A true style Burgess bolt handle, A pure Christman Custom Classic style stock, Point pattern checkering, Shadowline cheekpiece, Ebony forend tip, Double screw sling eyes on the stock, Skeleton grip cap that is case color hardened with wood checkering, Lightning cuts inside the forend, 14 1/8" LOP over a 1/2" pad, 7 lbs. 12 oz. as an open sight rifle and 8 lbs. 14 oz. with the Zeiss scope, The bore appears as new, A nice piece of wood, The original satin blue remains at 99%, The original stock finish at 99%, The checkering remains at 100%. This Louisiana classic is very accurate; a 3 shot group with 140 grain Nosler accubond bullets, 42 grains of IMR 4895 shot a .309" group with all 3 touching. Another 3 shot group at .580", another with 140 grain Nosler ballistic tip at .711. It likes the 140's better but it will shoot 160 grain Nosler Partitions under 1" at .776" and .848". A very nice Classic Custom Bolt Rifle by a Member of the American Gunmakers Guild. Then top it off, it is chambered to the great cartridge designed by Paul Mauser in 1892, a milestone in modern cartridge design, used the world over and is a ballistic delight.
