Extremely Rare Rowe Patent Model Field Trials Test of 1865 Pivot Breech Rifle .45 Cal
MANUFACTUERED BY WM. MUIR AND CO. WINDSOR-LOCKS. CT 1864, W.JOHNSTON PATON 1862, A.H.ROWE HARTFORD CT, PATENT 1864 1 of 12
A.H. Rowe 1864 patent and also "W Johnston" patent marked. The arm was manufactured by William Muir & Co. of Windsor Locks Connecticut and is dated 1864 on the frame and pivoting barrel section. The American walnut buttstock is in very good shape showing some minor dings and dents from the years. The arm is equipped with double set triggers, the rear must be a set for the front to function, the rear trigger performing the function of "cocking" the rifle. There is a thumb piece atop the rear tang which when actuated allows the barrel section to pivot to the right, actuating an automatic cartridge extractor.
