RARE Brass Frame ETHAN ALLEN & WHEELOCK .32 Rimfire SIDEHAMMER Revolver
Circa 1861 Civil War Era Pocket Revolver!
Here we present an antique Allen & Wheelock Sidehammer Revolver in .32 Rimfire with the Rare Brass Frame, made circa 1861 in Worcester, Massachusetts. There we 8 different variants of this revolver made between 1858 and 1865, and only 1,500 are thought to have been made total, making this a very scarce little revolver. The most immediately eye-catching feature on this revolver is the side-mounted hammer on the right side of the gun, a distinctive motif featured on many of Ethan Allen’s percussion and cartridge revolvers. This little spur trigger features a 6-shot cylinder. This would have made a great gun for a small belt holster or even a coat pocket in the 1860s and beyond!
Steel frames were standard and only a few known with brass and considered quite rare. Marked on the left side flat of the octagon barrel is “ALLEN & WHEELOCK. WORCESTER MS.US/ALLEN’S PATENTS SEPT.7 NOV.9 1858” and on the left side of the frame forward of the cylinder is marked “JULY 3 1860”.
The overall condition is Very Good. The action is strong and locks up tight. The bore is in good condition. A rarity for your consideration.
