Merkel --- 140-2.1 Boxlock Double Rifle --- .470 Nitro Express. 23 1/2" SxS barrels with full flat matted rib, raised at muzzle with rectangular blade front sight and raised as a quarter rib with 1 standing and 1 folding express sight. 15 1/4"pull from front trigger to leather-covered recoil pad. Dark, figured, European walnut stock with Deeley-release splinter forend, steel trapdoor pistol grip cap, flat sidepanels, reinforced head, classic point-pattern checkering, vacant silver initial oval, and pancake cheekpiece. Polished, coin-finished, scalloped, bolstered action with side clips, Greener crossbolt, cocking indicators, bushed firing pins and manual top tang safety. Factory game scene engraved by Silke Henke with rhino on left and elephant on right. Schmidt & Bender 1.25 - 4 x 20mm matte-finish scope with 30mm tube and illuminated No.7 duplex reticle on quick-detachable claw mounts. Two mercury recoil compensators inside buttstock. Weight: 12lbs, 4 1/2oz. Built 2000. Very little used. In original box with extra interchangeable thinner leather-covered recoil pad, original buttplate and manual. Dies and loading components.
