Description: This is a scarce silk survival map measuring 24 1/2" x 23" and was issued to Army Airmen in World War II flying the “Burma Hump" from China to India. The map contains the usual terrain and important features along with a capture statement printed in 7 different language including English, Chinese, Burmese, Lisu, Kachin, Hindustani (Urdu) and Bengali. The note reads: “I an an American Airman. My plane is destroyed. I cannot speak your language. I am an enemy of the Japanese. Pleas give me food and take me to the nearest allied Military post. You will be rewarded." The map is labeled No. 133-K'Un-Ming, Yunnan, China to Chabua, Assam, India (Eastern Portion) and is dated January 1944. The map remains in the original folded condition with some light fraying of the edges and very minor soiling and marks on the exposed folded sides about 3" x 6". A great piece of WWII aviation history that will look fantastic in a frame. SOLD Manufacturer: US Model: Map |
