Description:
NSN, .43 Spanish, 35" barrel with a very good bore that has dark freckling within the grooves. This rifle looks to be one of the early Spanish contract guns, but only has Remington company markings (on the top tang). The metal has an overall dark, plum-brown patina with even, pinprick pitting throughout. The walnut forend and buttstock are in good plus condition with numerous handling marks and surface bruises under a thick, added military oil finish. A small rectangular chip is missing from the underside of the forend where it meets the frame, and there are some short, with-the-grain cracks at the tips of the wrist tangs. The action itself is tight and fully functional. The rifle does come complete with a metal ramrod and is a fair-good example of a Rolling Block military rifle overall. Antique
