Description:
This brass and leather scabbard remains in excellent condition with light wear and a few small scuffs. Leather surfaces are solid with no cracking or tears. The belt loop is stamped F. Chillinworth over Pat. Dec.1, 1868. An oval makers mark also shows with Wellman and Springfield Mass remaining visible. Brass tip shows a few rubs and has developed a dark patina with light verdigris. The rivets also show verdigris and a dark patina. A very scarce scabbard for a popular bayonet.
