Description:
This is a very nice FN Model 98 bayonet with an overall length of 20 1/4 inches. This was designed for the FN Mauser Model 98, FN Mauser Model 1924, FN Mauser Model 24/30 and FN Mauser model 1934. The blade measures 15 1/8 inches with two fullers 11 3/4 inches long. The blade is in very good to excellent condition with some dried oil evident over the original bright surface. The unmarked ricasso is turning a light pewter color. The steel crosspiece and pommel have darkened with age and show some of the dried oil and has the serial number “6214" on the top. The wood grip scales have nicks and scratches consistent with the age. The steel scabbard has most of the black paint finish remaining with some areas of paint loss and exposed steel around the finial, throat and frog stud. A great example overall with some minor condition elements. Please see the photographs for further information on condition.
