Description:
This is a typical federal revolver cartridge box with small “US" and “T. J. Shepard" inspector cartouche on the outside of the cover flap. The leather is in good condition, but does have heavy crazing along the cover with moderate flaking on the flex points. The interior is in fine shape, although the rear wall of the compartment is bowed inwards and away from the exterior wall. The closure tab and belt loops have moderate flaking as well, but are intact, and still quite supple. This is a very good, original piece of Civil War equipment, and would make a nice addition to a collection.
