Description:
Here's a super rare Model 53 with a pile of original factory condition!!!  Stainless steel barreled Winchester levers are like finding hen's teeth but to find one with the original "Japan black" finish on the barrel is truly a collector prize.

This gun has a greater than average percentage of it's original Winchester factory blue on it's receiver & small parts, The majority of Model 53 receivers were prone to flaking blue, this one has survived nicely.  The wood retains most of it's original factory finish with some minor bumps & bruises... no cracks, no sanding.
Nice screws.
Marbles folding tang sight & Marbles marked barrel dovetail filler.  Lyman ivory bead front sight. These sights were likely ordered on this special order Stainless Steel barreled rifle, the barrel being  a special order feature itself.

This rifle has a fantastic amount of it's original Winchester factory "Japan black" finish on the barrel.  This factory finish is usually long gone on Winchester Stainless guns of this era as it did not hold up well to use & most times it was ultimately purposely removed.  This barrel is code marked "30" under the forend signifying a build date of 1930.  Special order Stainless barrels were a special order feature in the very late 1920's to the early 1930's.   Great bore.

A rare opportunity to add a great gun to a Winchester collection.  Production of Stainless barreled 53's is estimated at about less than 3% of total Model 53s made and production was not large on the Model 53 as a whole.
