DESCRIPTION: Marlin Model 94 rifle in caliber 25-20 with special order 26" octagon barrel 2" longer than standard, full magazine, walnut stocks, S-curved metal butt plate, correct Marlin rear sight, special order Lyman #5 combination front sight and Lyman #2 cup disc tang sight correctly marked "E" on the underside of the base, blued and case colored finish, lever action. Serial number 302925, made 1904.
CONDITION: Barrel retains 75% bright original blue. Mag tube has turned a plum patina with darker blue in the protected areas up by the barrel. Receiver, lever and hammer retain 15% original mottled case colors. Bolt and loading gate show 50% original bright fire blue. All metal surfaces have scattered pinprick surface oxidation, not pitting, that should clean off if done carefully. Action is tight and the half cock safety feature functions as designed. Should be checked by a competent gunsmith before firing. Removal of the tang sight reveals bright case colors underneath and no extra holes, indicating this tang sight has been on the rifle since day 1. Stocks are sound with no splits or cracks, no extra holes, never sanded or refinished, exhibiting mulitple dings and scratches from use; some original varnish remains. Bore is good, a 7 of 10, with evident rifling throughout, no deep pits, no rings or bulges, just typical light scattered black powder fouling. Grades NRA Antique Very Good and would make a nice addition to your Marlin collection.
