Description:

U.S. Historical Society Chuck Yeager Commemorative Over/Under Shotgun, #032. 12 ga. 28'' vent rib barrels have 2-3/4'' chambers and feature screw-in choke tubes (five (5) included; M/F installed). Boxlock action with sideplates features single selective trigger, auto ejectors and non-auto safety. Sideplates and balance of receiver, plus triggerguard, top tang and operating lever, have grey finish with elaborate floral engraving around several gold inlays: Yeager's WWII P-51D on the right, a bust of the General and his Bell X-1 on the left, and two eagles on the bottom. Engraving is beautifully executed; both aircraft even have their names ''Glamorous Glennis'' on their noses. Slender forend and pistol-grip buttstock are of Presentation Grade oil-finished walnut, with 24 LPI checkering and checkered butt. Contained in a heavy leather case with extra tubes, wrench and gun sleeves. Also featuring all paperwork including brochure and operating instructions. Mfg'd 1990 by Fili Bertuzzi in Italy for the U.S. Historical Society. Condition is as new, appearing unfired, with no wear.

Commissioned by the United States Historical Society, this arm was produced by the Bertuzzi Brothers of Italy who specialize almost exclusively in Holland & Holland first quality style shotguns and accept only limited numbers of special commissions. Hand floral scroll engraved and 24 karat gold inlaid coin receiver with the Air Force logo with thirteen gold stars, "YEAGER" in a banner and Yeager's "Glamorous Glennis" P-51 Mustang on the right, a pair of American Eagles on the underside and a bust of Yeager with his General's star and Medal of Honor next to two scenes of the Bell X-1 rocket plane and "14 OCT 1947" in a banner. The trigger guard is numbered "32/100" in gold. The lower tang is signed by the engraver. Makers mark is present on left side of the barrels, (partially gold filled) and "FOR US HISTORICAL SOCIETY" on the right side. Single brass bead sight on the matte vent rib, screw in choke tubes and 3 inch chambers with ejectors. Checkered semi-fancy pistol grip stock with engraving on the forearm hardware and a checkered bare butt. The shotgun is complete in leather takedown case with red velvet lining 5 choke tubes, (three in the case, two in the gun), and a choke wrench. Also accompanying the shotgun is a copy of the book "Yeager: An Autobiography by General Chuck Yeager and Leo Janos". Only 100 of these master handcrafted, gold inlaid shotguns were made. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches
