Description:
TERRE HAUTE INDIANA Antique LONG Rifle by BRUMFIEL

Made Circa the 1850s in INDIANA

Here we present an antique James R. Brumfiel Percussion Half-Stock Long Rifle, made circa the late 1850s in Connersville, Indiana. Both James and his brother, William, were gunsmiths in the town of Connersville. At some point in time, James relocated to Terre Haute, Indiana, which was a hotbed of “Over the Log” matches. He remained here until later in the 19th century.

The overall condition is Fair. The action is strong. The set trigger must be activated for the hammer to be cocked. The bore is in good condition with nice rifling. The front of the stock shows a gap between it and the barrel due to a missing pin and the retainer on the bottom of the barrel chipped off at some point. The lock depicts a hunting scene clearly. The stock is really a unique piece of wood that really sets this one apart.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 40-3/8 inches.

Caliber: .36

Overall condition as seen in photos.
