Description:
This is a nice original Savage Model 1907 semi-automatic pistol in .32 ACP manufactured just after World War 1 in 1919.  This neat pistol was originally marketed by Savage for the self defense market in 1908.  It had a number of early celebrity endorsers, including William "Buffalo Bill" Cody, Bat Masterson, and the Pinkerton Agency.  It was well-received by the public for it's unique good looks, excellent reliability and accuracy, and easy tool-less disassembly.  There were no tools needed to completely strip the pistol down for cleaning and maintenance, a very novel feature at the time.  What was most revolutionary about this pistol is that it was one of the first semi-automatic handguns to feature a detachable double-stack magazine with a 10 round capacity.  With most small self-defense guns of the time being 6-shot revolvers or small caliber autos with a 5 or 6 round capacity, the 10 rounds of .32 ACP on board the Savage Model 1907 was quite an upgrade in firepower!  This particular Model 1907 retains most of the original factory blue finish and the original hard rubber grips. The left side grip has a few small nicks up near the safety, and there is a small marring on the top right-hand serrations of the slide where it appears that someone might have dropped the pistol ages ago. The bore in this Savage has some minor frosting in the grooves of the rifling, but has clean and sharp lands.  Mechanically, this Savage is in excellent condition and is 100% functional.  This Savage Model 1907 would make a fine addition to any turn-of-the-century firearms collection and a very interesting concealed carry gun.
