FULL STOCK Long Rifle with Brass Hardware
Here we present an antique engraved American Full Stock Long Rifle, made circa 1840. This .46 caliber rifle features double set triggers. These type rifles would have been crucial and utilitarian tools on the frontier for gathering food and protecting the homestead. This one is marked with the maker’s name “TOBY” on the top flat of the barrel and “PHILA” for Philadelphia.
The overall condition is fair. The bore shows promise and will clean up nicely. The action functions. There is no percussion nipple present and the threads look good in the bolster. There are various cracks, and some repairs, as seen in the photos. A good old gun that was used hard back in its heyday.
