Description:
This is an original Contender barrel in excellent condition . It has the original high lustre blued finish. There are only some slight marks from the frame and scope base on it. Only used at the range (unfortunately). Fired about 50 times, cleaned thoroughly, and the bore is L/N.
The rear sight is fully adjustable and well marked.
I am including a Weaver one piece base, with screws, that has been drilled and tapped along with the bbl. to accommodate 4 mounting screws , together with with 3 Weaver hand lapped rings. This arrangement has proved to be reliable, and very strong.
The .357 Herrett develops a lot of power in a 10 in. bbl. I loaded the 180 gr. Hornady SSP spire point bullet to 1800 fps. out of it. Recoil is mild. Accuracy is 1 in. at 50 yds. for 5 shot groups (test target included).
Dies, formed brass, and bullets available.
