Description:
Serial #1570 (Reg. #4217), .450 CF, 5 1/2" ribbed barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some small spots of mild freckling within the grooves. The metal of this handsome revolver has retained about 70-75% of the original bright blue finish with fading along the edges and screw heads, as well as plum-brown metal where the finish has flaked or scratched away, especially towards the muzzle of the barrel. The topstrap is retailer marked: “GARDEN & SONS 200 PICCADILLY, LONDON". The one-piece walnut grip has light handling marks throughout, and there is some mild flattening of the points. The lock-up is still tight and the mechanism is fully functional. This very revolver is illustrated as Fig. V/10 on pg. 108 of “Webley Revolvers" by Bruce and Reinhart; (1988). In the book, the revolver is pictured with a holster, however the holster has been lost over time. This is a great looking, published Pryse revolver, and rates fine-near excellent condition overall.
