Description:
#4817 Winchester 1892 SRC (saddle ring carbine) 44WCF, 50XXX range (1894 mfgr). Smooth tight action, VG-VG+ bore, being about a 7 on a scale of 10 and not having any major pitting or deficits of mention, just some light wear and lead build-up. Markings are very good, metal is fine with no pitting, and retains about 80% coverage of a 30-40% density plumming blue-brown on the barrel and magazineand being slightly more brownish on the frame. The wood shows just average wear, bumps, bruises, and just one chip sliver on the buttstock as well as having some tack holes as can be seen in the photos. The forearm is very decent. As mentioned earlier, the metal really is a nice smooth plum blue-brown mixing to a brownish patina on the barrel, and overall this 44/40 early Model 1892 is certainly MUCH above average for a 126 year old carbine! Original dust cover, carbine blade front sight and rear carbine elevated “ladder” sight. Overall, this is a very decent late 1890s Winchester carbine and except for some mentionable light bumps and tacking holes on the stock flats, it has an overall very handsome appearance. About VG+ as described. $1895
