Payment Types Accepted: check, cash, or money order Description: At first glance, this pistol appears to be just a regular Harpers Ferry pistol that someone converted to percussion and slapped on an octogon barrel. Not so fast there friend. Look at the photos closely. the octagon barrel was fitted to this gun from the git-go. A round barrel will not fit. The tang is inleted strictly for this stock. Standard HF's have a rounded tang and would not fit correctly and would leave some evidence around the end of the tang. The lock appears to be a very rare 1806 lock but has no US under the eagle and really no room to put it. The front of the underrib is also different. Speculation is that the pistol was possibly a "lunchbox special" that was made from rejected or light fingered parts from the armory. The workmanship is excellent and I believe of the period. The barrel is 10 1/16 long, 3/4 across the flats, and approx.50 cal. There are no markings on it other than what's on the lock. A Very strange piece. Please contact me with any questions. Antique, can be shipped direct. Price includes shipping in CONUS. SOLD Antique: Yes |
