Description:
General Specs: Winchester, Year 1956, .375 H&H, 9lbs
Serial Number: 368071

Winchester's Model 70 was called the "Rifleman's Rifle" by many in the know, including the shooting editor of Outdoor Life, Jim Carmichael.  Known for its accuracy, rugged durability, CONTROLED ROUND FEED, and overall good looks, the Pre-64 Model 70 has continued to be in high demand and has grown in value yearly.  Of the over 1/2 million pre-64 Model 70 rifles produced only 2.41% were made in the .375 Holland & Holland Magnum caliber.  For anybody considering an African Safari, the .375 H & H Magnum is the minimum caliber that most Professional Hunters will require for hunting dangerous game.  The Pre-64 Model 70 is famous for its controlled round feed that ensures positive feeding of cartridges when things get hot.  This Model 70, sn368071 made in 1956, has been beautifully restocked by Brian Macon of Warsaw Missouri with a gorgeous, full-figured stock.  The stock has the added cross-bolts to secure the stock to the action under the heavy recoil of the big cartridge and the stock wears the Winchester pad that came standard on all .375 Standard Grade rifles at the time this gun was built.  The barrel blue and action retain most all the original factory blue and the gun shows little signs of use with no marks in the wood and crisp checkering.  The bore is perfect from chamber to muzzle. The rear sight is the Winchester Model 70B folding leaf sight that was specifically made for the .375 H & H Magnum and is so often missing on these rifles and is near impossible to find.  This is an African Safari caliber that you may want to carry after elk, bear, moose, and hogs on this continent.  Professional hunters in Africa after dangerous game consider the pre-64 Model 70 to be a supreme rifle with its controlled round feed and the .375 H&H being a favored cartridge because it is tapered to feed without fail.  It is also a 4-round magazine, plus one in the chamber, a big plus in a bad scenario!  A VERY POPULAR RIFLE IN AFRICA AND FOR LARGE BEAR WORLD-WIDE.  Take a close look at the photos and you will see a gorgeous custom stocked classic Model 70 that would bring lots of pride of ownership.  This is priced to sell, so don’t hesitate or she will be gone!  Thanks for looking.
