This is an outstanding example of a Type IV Confederate Fayetteville Rifled Musket dated 1864. This Fayetteville is one of the finest examples to come to market in quite some time. The condition is overall exceptional for a Confederate Arm. The wood stock is excellent with a cartouche on the left flat. The action functions very well but is a tad bit loose when the trigger is pulled. The barrel breech shows flash pitting from being fired, presumably from a battle. The rest of the barrel shows an absoutely beautiful and fine patina that is untouched. The inside of the barrel is still rifled and not bored out like most examples. The lock shows a deep patina that is untouched also. The brass buttplate is marked "CSA". The original linen sling is no doubt of Confederate manufacture. the sling was purchased with the musket out of an old time collection so it has the possibility of being with it for quite some time. This is an absolutely outstanding and one of the best examples one could possibly find of a completely original Confederate Fayetteville.
