Description:
This is a very neat all-original Smith & Wesson Model 13-3 Military & Police .357 Magnum revolver with the scarce combination of a factory nickel finish, a 3" inch barrel, and a round butt frame.  This example is serial number "AEE3239", making it's date of manufacture in 1984.  The S&W Model 13 .357 Magnum Military & Police revolver was first introduced in 1974 and remained in production until 1998.  This double-action / single-action revolver was built on the firm's "K" frame and chambered in .357 Magnum.  It features a 6-shot fluted cylinder, fixed iron sights, and a heavy barrel profile.  It was offered in a blued or nickel finish with a 3" inch barrel with a round butt or a 4" inch barrel with a square butt.  The 3" inch barrel was discontinued in 1996, two years before the 4" inch barrel square butt variation was dropped.  The majority of production were blued with a 4" inch barrel, and there were 5 engineering changes throughout the production period with the Model 13-5 being the last variation manufactured.  The .357 Magnum Military & Police Model proved to be an excellent revolver, well-made, reliable, and accurate.  Today, the Smith & Wesson Model 13 is considered by many to be the finest all-around .357 Magnum revolver made by the firm for self-defense, plinking, and general use.  This particular example is a factory nickel Model 13-3, made just after S&W dropped the counter-bored cylinder.  It has obviously been well-cared for over the years and appears to have been shot very little.  The bright factory nickel finish is still very handsome and clean, showing only some very minor handling/storage marks.  The factory case-colored hammer and trigger still show some nice color in places but have faded, with the right side of the hammer showing evidence of prior surface rust in spots.  As you can see from the pictures, these minor deductions do not detract much from the handsome looks of this Smith.  The bore in the 3" inch barrel is in excellent condition, with nice string rifling throughout the barrel and no visible imperfections whatsoever.  The six chambers of the cylinder are equally as clean.  The original checkered factory grips on this Model 13-3 are in very good condition.  Both grip panels are free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/dents.  Both sides are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the frame with no wiggle.  The original grips are not numbered which is proper for this vintage and model.  The action on this S&W is very smooth and in perfect time.  All of the controls on this S&W are in perfect working order, and the trigger is nice and crisp particularly in single-action operation.  If you have been looking for a neat vintage Smith & Wesson to add to your collection this Model 13-3 .357 Magnum Military & Police revolver would be an excellent choice.
